Student feedback from online survey

As part of our strategic planning process, we invited all students to share their thoughts about Douglas through an online survey.

The survey is now closed, and I'm very pleased that we received 248 responses. I let students know through a myDouglas email how much I appreciate this feedback and I assured them that I have read all the comments carefully.

Students were honest and thoughtful about what they like, what they don't like and what they think we should change as we look ahead. They've given us a lot to think about as we build a new strategic plan for the coming decade.

I'm gratified that students said the best aspects of Douglas College are good teaching and personal attention. They pointed out, though, that the quality of instruction can vary and that they'd like out-of-class activities to be strengthened, more current and accessible technology, and better information and advising. Many of them shared very specific suggestions about different aspects of the College, and these will be provided to the administrators who are responsible for those areas.

The survey results will be very helpful in developing Douglas College's plans. A summary of the student survey as well as a full report is available on the Strategic planning process web page. --Scott
